Shahjahanabad is the first collaboration on India with Boulder based photographer Joshua Bergeron. The images were taken in October 2014 in Old Delhi, or Shahjahanabad—the ancient walled city located within the modern Indian capital of New Delhi and named after its founder, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639. This was Bergeron's first trip to India, and the book serves as a metaphor for his wandering and exploring the tightly knit alleyways through the flipping of pages left and right. Shot candidly within the documentary and street photography genre, Bergeron made daily trips into Old Delhi dissecting images from the chaotic frenzy of a world lost in time, filled with rickshaws and hand pulled carts soaked in a myriad of smells and colors. The box camera shaped construction of the book serves as a vessel holding these memories and the attached neckstrap lends a dimension of portability, thereby putting the viewer in Bergeron's shoes.
